Euro Cake League 2017 (T4) Hua Hin City FC 2:1 Ratchaburi 'B'

Updated: Dec 21, 2020

We were riding high after our victory last week, and the team was almost back to full strength.

After such a poor start to the season, today’s opponents, Ratchaburi were currently in the position we are striving to finish in, 5th. A win today could see us climb to 7th place. A win was essential.

Hua Hin soon took command of the game, and created numerous scoring chances in the first half, but were unable to turn a chance into a score. In the end, Ratchaburi were very unlucky not to go into half time without the advantage. Totally against the run of play, they had the easiest of chances. They could only look on in disbelief when the ball hit the cross bar, bounced on the goal line and away to safety.

The second half started in much the same manner. However, Amos found himself on the receiving end of a series of defensive errors, and gratefully accepted what was little more than a tap in. Sometimes you just have to accept these little gifts.

The game continued with very little danger to Hua Hin’s lead. Then following wave after wave of Hua Hin attacks, Amos grabbed his second to make him Hua Hin’s leading scorer (particularly good when you consider he’s only been with us a few weeks).

Almost straight from the kick off, Ratchaburi grabbed a consolation with what must be a contender for goal of the season. It was a real screamer that gave Natchapon absolutely no chance, and denied him his 3rd clean sheet of the season.

Last week’s victory was a little flat, but today’s victory was very entertaining, with some lovely football played. Hua Hin finished the day in their highest position of the season in 7th place. A win at Nonthaburi next week will see them knocking on the door of that coveted 5th place finish.
